Following a devastating sports accident, Ben becomes an incomplete quadriplegic and enters a rehabilitation center. There, he encounters other patients with various disabilities—tetraplegics, paraplegics, and those with traumatic brain injuries—many of whom are also accident victims. The film portrays their intense struggles with despair and resignation as they learn to regain even the most basic movements. Some experience small victories, while others face the permanent reality of their conditions. Despite the hardships, hope and the bonds of friendship help them persevere.
