Jacques Demy's poetic retelling follows rock star Orpheus, who composes love songs for Eurydice, the artist who creates his album covers. Caught between Eurydice and his sound engineer Calaïs, he discovers she has died from an overdose. Grief drives him to descend into the Underworld, where he bargains with Hades for a chance to bring her back.
