Prasoon, an animator by trade, is compelled to take a government post as a veterinary inspector through a compassionate appointment. This assignment drags him into a world where caring for animals threads through daily village life, highlighting the deep bond between humans and their domestic animals. The story follows his slow, steady immersion into a role that tests his patience, skill, and empathy, painting a gentle portrait of a community that relies on its animals for livelihood and meaning.

On his very first day, a Gramasabha turns tense when a ward member accuses him of irresponsibility in a bid to dodge the cost of building a cattle shed for Davis. The moment sets the tone for Prasoon’s uneasy welcome to the local veterinary world, where expectations clash with limited resources and the pressure to prove himself.

The new posting earns him an unlikely ally in the village, the veterinary doctor, Dr Sunil Issac. Their budding friendship brings humor, conflict, and late-night discussions about the right way to help animals in need. When Dr. Sunil later calls about a questionable money-chain venture, Prasoon politely refuses, signaling a clash of values that sours their partnership and seeds a quiet rivalry. The doctor’s departure from the job after a heart attack reshapes the dynamics, and a new doctor arrives who oversees a number of veterinary clinics, changing how Prasoon approaches his duties. Despite the upheaval, Prasoon grows more serious about his role, embracing the responsibility with renewed focus.

Trouble returns in a dramatic form when a police dog is brought in to track a church burglary, and Prasoon accidentally administers the wrong dosage, causing the dog’s death. The incident shakes him to his core and threatens his professional viability, nudging him toward a decision to leave the job and the place behind.

Meanwhile, Davis seeks help for his pregnant cow, Molikkutty, who has fallen on a hillside. Prasoon enlists the support of his girlfriend, Stephy, and together they attempt to stabilize the cow. The community gathers, and a mix of skepticism and belief fills the air as villagers, under the church priest’s leadership, perform various rituals that reflect the village’s tension between faith, tradition, and science.

In a surprising turn, the team discovers that the cow has consumed a hidden stock of alcohol from the hills. Prasoon suggests a practical remedy—baking soda—after which Molikkutty shows signs of recovery. Yet the situation intensifies as the calf’s delivery nears and the amniotic sac breaks, raising the stakes for both animal and caretaker.

Drawing on his Livestock Inspector (LI) training, Prasoon recalls a technique from his LI courses and applies it to help with the cow’s pregnancy. The successful intervention brings relief and a sense of validation, reinforcing the villagers’ trust in him as their LI. The arc closes with a quiet, earned sense of purpose: his work proves meaningful, not just for the animals, but for the people who depend on them—and it underscores the enduring link between humans and the creatures that share their lives.
