Outsourced

Todd learns his department is outsourced and is ordered to travel to India to train his replacement, Puro. His boss Dave warns that quitting would cost him stock options, so Todd reluctantly agrees. He leaves Seattle behind to begin the challenging assignment in India.

Todd arrives in India frustrated by everything and is nicknamed Mr. Toad by locals. He struggles to communicate with the Gharapuri call center employees and to meet the expectations of American customers. The unfamiliar environment heightens his sense of being far from home.

Todd learns the Minutes-per-Incident metric is hard to reach and he becomes determined to cut it under six minutes. He begins to recognize Asha as a potential leader among the staff. He starts looking for ways to improve the operation.

During the Holi festival Todd experiences the colorful celebration and feels a sense of calm taking hold. The festival softens his resistance to the new environment and opens his mind to possible improvements. He starts to see a path forward with the team.

Todd recognizes Asha as a capable leader in the call center and offers her the job of assisting Puro when Todd leaves. She becomes involved in the plan to keep the operation moving. Todd begins to rely on her guidance for the team.

Todd proposes a rewards program to boost morale and the employees' belief in selling the products. Dave initially refuses but agrees to ship the products overnight after Todd argues that they are opening a market of a billion people. The team starts to see a real opportunity.

Asha realizes that the shipment has been sent to another island. They travel to retrieve it, but the boat ferrying them back catches fire. They seek shelter at a hotel and manage to survive the dangerous situation.

On the island they argue but end up having sex. Asha reveals she is engaged to a family friend named Ashok since she was four years old, describing their affair as a temporary Holiday in Goa that precedes an arranged marriage. Todd struggles with conflicting loyalties.

Back at the call center, the MPI is almost at six. Dave calls to pick up Todd, but a flood causes a power outage. The employees set up their workstations on the roof and resume operations, impressing Dave with their resilience.

Dave informs the team that the business will be moved to China. Todd tells the employees that they have been fired as the company erases data from their hard disks. The move marks a harsh end to their time at the call center.

Asha explains that she has been writing a novel on her work computer called Holiday in Goa that must be saved. Todd and Asha go to Gaurav's house with another employee and consider the future; Todd suggests Puro as the replacement.

Todd returns to the United States and calls his mother to spend more time with her, a lesson learned from Puro's aunt. He receives a final phone call from Asha just as the screen cuts to black before the credits.
