The Parkers, Maddie Parker and Abby Parker, find themselves witnesses to a bold robbery at a local museum, where the priceless Kneel Diamond is stolen. Because the sisters are quick to talk and can’t keep a secret, the FBI steps in and places them in a strict Witness Protection Program, hoping to shield them from the danger closing in on the gem. The criminal mastermind behind the plan, Hatchew, will stop at nothing to recover the diamond, which thieves had slipped into one of the girls’ shoulder bags and ultimately stitched into one of their necklaces.

From Texas to a prairie town and then around the world, the Parker family relocates repeatedly, chasing safety and trying to blend in with new surroundings. Their relentless travel finally lands them in Sydney, Australia, where the twins adopt new identities as Maddie and Abby Turtleby, attempting to put their past behind them. Yet fitting in proves tricky, and the two sisters struggle to connect with peers while their status as protected witnesses lingers in the background.

Two assassins named Sidney and Mac are sent after them after breaking into the FBI office, a high-stakes pursuit that heightens the sense of danger. The twins respond with unexpected teamwork and wit, pulling off a series of audacious moves to thwart their pursuers: they knock out the attackers, tie them to surfboards, dramatize Sidney’s hair with clips, and even humorously paint Mac’s toenails. Their clever ruse persuades the would-be killers to switch sides, buying the sisters precious time as they lure Hatchew farther afield toward Australia.

Hatchew follows the trail to the Australian shore, where he seizes the opportunity to seize the diamond once again and deploys a thug to finish the job. Just when it seems the sisters might meet a grim end, Mac and Sidney reappear to help turn the tide, defeating the thug and keeping the sisters safe. Hatchew makes a desperate attempt to escape by seaplane, but the twins don’t intend to let him getaway; a well-timed boomerang shot disrupts the plan, and the would-be criminal is finally apprehended by Katie, an undercover FBI agent posing as a lifeguard.

With the danger behind them, the Parkers return home to the United States, carrying with them half of the reward earned for capturing the thieves. The journey has changed them, teaching resilience and teamwork in the face of organized crime, and they carry these lessons forward as they reclaim a semblance of normal life after their extraordinary years of flight and concealment.
