The whole story of Oresama (2003) explained, from the opening scene to the final frame: every key event, every twist and what it all adds up to. Read it as a quick recap before the sequel, to check a scene you missed, or to finally understand what really happened.

Miyavi leaves his present to visit family back in his hometown of Osaka, hoping to reconnect and find his place.

After an initial run-in with fans, he dozes off in his car, and when he wakes, he finds himself walking along a railway track. He quickly senses something is off as the surroundings feel unfamiliar, and it becomes clear that he has slipped into the year 1984.

Back in this new-old world, he struggles with how to face his family and their possible reaction to him arriving from the future. He rings the doorbell of his childhood home, but fear and doubt push him to run away instead of stepping inside.

Lost and contemplative, he drifts through the streets, trying to chart a path forward in a world that is not his own. In an alley, he crosses paths with Shinni, who is posting an advertisement about forming a band. Shinni is drawn to Miyavi’s striking presence and sees the spark of a rock star in him, insisting that he could play guitar and sing in the group.

Shinni suggests heading to a recording studio, but Miyavi cautions against it, sensing that a quick break might not be worth the risk. Instead they head to Shinni’s home, where Miyavi’s guitar skills quickly impress, and Shinni welcomes him to stay.

As the day unfolds, the pair forms a growing bond, and a mysterious moment arrives when Miyavi encounters a young boy who turns out to be his younger self, a revelation that roots the journey in a strange, intertwining past and future.
