Oh My Dog

Arjun grows up in Tamil Nadu with his parents and grandfather, developing a deep affinity for animals. The story roots itself in a family that values compassion and community. This setting frames the journey of Simba, the puppy who will change everything.

Fernando Lee, a dog impresario, orders the killing of a blind newborn puppy to keep his winning dogs perfect. His henchmen fail to complete the act, and Simba escapes into the outskirts of the city. They lie to Fernando that the puppy is dead, while fear gnaws at them.

Arjun finds Simba and begs his mother to keep the puppy, despite the family’s initial refusal. For a week he hides Simba at home and even sneaks the dog to school, where classmates quickly fall in love with him. Arjun names the puppy Simba in homage to The Lion King.

Fernando’s henchmen track Simba down, triggering fear and danger for Arjun. The principal and PT Master Swaminathan intervene, warning Shankar about the consequences. Shankar reprimands Arjun for keeping the dog, and Simba’s absence leaves Arjun feverish with worry and guilt.

Shankar and Priya search for Simba and Arjun, even as a bear roams nearby. A nightmare about Simba being eaten by the bear spurs Arjun to sneak out in the night. Eventually they are found together, and the family decides to keep Simba.

Arjun learns that Simba’s blindness could be cured with an expensive surgery. He and his classmates begin raising funds, and they discover an International Dog Competition in Coimbatore offering a 2 lakh prize. With his father’s help, Arjun signs Simba up for the event.

At the Coimbatore event, Arjun and Simba enter the competition and secure a third-place finish in the first challenge. The duo steadily progresses toward the finals as Simba’s growth and intelligence shine. The family rallies behind them, hopeful for a breakthrough.

Fernando’s henchmen kidnap Simba, forcing Arjun to seek refuge at Ladoo’s house. Ladoo’s father is a police officer, which leads to the henchmen being jailed for six months. During this time, Simba advances to the finals, growing wiser and stronger.

After the six-month pause, a Russian doctor volunteers to perform Simba’s sight-restoring surgery for free. Shankar initially suspects a prank or scam but ultimately agrees to the treatment. Simba’s restored sight helps him compete in the finals.

Fernando tries to buy Simba by offering to settle Shankar’s mortgage, hoping to control the family. Shankar refuses, angering Shanmugam, who worries for the family. A nocturnal heart attack strikes Shanmugam, but Simba’s warning saves him and the family.

Moved by the family’s struggle, Shanmugam offers to pay the final entry fee using his Old Age Security. This act relieves the mounting pressure and reinforces the family’s unity. Arjun and Simba push toward the finals with renewed resolve.

In the finals, a policy bans blind dogs, threatening Simba’s participation. With support from Shankar and the audience, Simba enters and sets a world record. Arjun overhears Fernando threatening to kill Simba and offers to give Fernando Simba to spare him; Fernando’s guilt becomes evident, and Arjun is ultimately crowned winner as the family pays off the mortgage and celebrates a happy ending.
