Nothing Underneath

Bob experiences a sudden, vivid vision of Jessica's murder while in Yellowstone. The vision spurs him to take immediate action and search for his sister. He resolves to go to Milan to locate her and uncover the truth.

Bob reaches Milan and checks into the same hotel where Jessica stayed. He learns she has disappeared and that very little is known about her current whereabouts. His arrival marks the start of the investigation.

In Milan, Bob meets police commissioner Danesi and convinces the aging detective to take Jessica's disappearance seriously. They begin to probe the people connected to Jessica. The partnership sets the investigation in motion.

As Bob questions Jessica's associates, Barbara—another model at the same agency—drops a hint of romantic interest in him. The clue adds a personal dimension to the case and foreshadows possible motives. The investigation begins to uncover darker undercurrents in Jessica's circle.

Several models who knew Jessica are found murdered with scissors, matching the weapon Bob envisioned. One victim is found with a cache of diamonds, shifting suspicion toward Giorgio Zanoni. The police start linking the killings to Giorgio's private parties.

Giorgio Zanoni is interrogated and explains that Jessica and the others were at a private party the night a game of Russian roulette killed another model. He says he disposed of the body and bribed the others with diamonds to keep quiet. The confession intensifies the case against him.

Giorgio is arrested and jailed, and the police declare Jessica the prime suspect in the murders. Bob remains skeptical, seeking more solid proof beyond the official narrative. The investigation widens as new inconsistencies surface.

Bob receives a telegram allegedly from Jessica asking him to return home. He traces the message to the Lugano post office and suspects it may be forged. The telegram deepens the mystery and motivates him to dig deeper.

Seeking the original handwritten copy, Bob goes to Lugano and spots inconsistencies in Jessica's signature. The discovery undermines the authenticity of the telegram and reinforces his suspicions. Interpol continues to shadow him as he pursues the truth.

Bob returns to Milan, checks out of his hotel, and heads to a large studio apartment for a lead. He climbs through a window after the door is locked, injuring his arm in the process. The search indicates someone manipulated Jessica's identity.

Inside the apartment, Bob discovers that Jessica's handwriting has been forged and finds Jessica’s dead body pinned to a chair. The grim evidence confirms foul play and deepens the mystery. He calls Danesi to report the grisly find.

Barbara arrives at the scene, admitting she killed Jessica along with the other models and revealing a failed attempt at a lesbian relationship. She launches a desperate attack on Bob with an electric drill. Bob narrowly survives as the danger escalates.

Danesi and an Interpol agent arrive and disable the drill, ending Barbara's assault. With no escape, Barbara pushes the chair with Jessica through the window and dies by her own actions. The killer is exposed as Barbara, bringing the case to a grim close.
