Njan Marykutty

Mathukutty undergoes sex reassignment surgery and transforms into Marykutty, a transgender woman. She leaves her job in Chennai and returns to her hometown, seeking a new life and identity. Her decision to live authentically marks the beginning of her journey of self-acceptance.

Marykutty moves back to her hometown and reunites with her family. While her father and sister disown her due to her sexuality, her mother continues to support her. She starts living with her friend Jovi and Jovi's child Tanu, finding some solace in their company.

Determined to challenge societal expectations, Marykutty aspires to become a sub-inspector. She joins a coaching institute to prepare for the civil service exam while facing daily mistreatment from her peers. She also begins hosting a radio program called 'Jingle' as RJ Angel.

While traveling with RJ Alwin Henry, Marykutty encounters SI Kunjippalu, a corrupt officer who demands a bribe. When she questions his misconduct, she is mistreated and has a confrontation with the police officers, highlighting her courage and refusal to accept corruption.

Marykutty’s radio program gains popularity across her town, making her a well-known voice. Her success in broadcasting becomes a significant part of her identity, and she continues to inspire people with her resilience and talent.

Her application to the Kerala Public Service Union is rejected due to missing gender-related certificates. One night, she is harassed by a group of youngsters, but SI Kunjippalu intervenes and humiliates her at the police station, damaging her reputation in the community.

After being publicly humiliated, Marykutty moves to a church-run home where she tutors children. She visits her mother, only to find her family disowning her during her sister’s engagement ceremony. Despite the rejection, she remains hopeful for acceptance someday.

Leveraging her fame as RJ Angel, Marykutty bonds with the District Collector, who helps her reapply for the exam and provides moral support. She begins to prepare intensely for her civil service exam, demonstrating her determination.

Marykutty passes both the written and physical tests for the sub-inspector position, demonstrating her perseverance. She firmly states her belief that talent should be recognized regardless of gender, confronting her critics.

During her interview, Marykutty expresses her desire to set an example and succeeds in her pursuit of justice. Her determination pays off as she attains her goal of becoming a police officer, breaking societal barriers.

The film concludes with Marykutty returning to the police station, proudly introduced as a sub-inspector. Her journey from societal rejection to professional achievement symbolizes resilience and acceptance.

In the closing scenes, Marykutty revisits her friends, family, and her radio station, now fully embracing her new identity and role in society. Her story inspires others to pursue their dreams despite challenges.
