Night Fare

Chris returns to Paris after two years away and unexpectedly runs into his ex-girlfriend Ludivine and his friend Luc at a party. Ludivine reminds him of his sudden departure and that she has moved on. The encounter stirs unresolved feelings and a sense that the night will test their loyalties.

Ludivine leaves the party early with Luc, taking his car, leaving Chris feeling adrift. The abrupt turn of events makes the reunion feel unsettled and fragile.

Chris and Luc drift through the city in a daze, unsure of what comes next. Luc suggests stealing a car, but Chris rejects the idea and proposes taking a taxi instead.

In the taxi, Luc snorts cocaine, heightening the tension between them. The taxi driver sits silently, an almost spectral presence that unnerves both men.

A quick detour to the ATM becomes chaotic as Luc dashes away, leaving Chris to chase after him. Chris apologizes for the disruption and catches up, trying to salvage the night.

The taxi driver resumes the chase with relentless focus, driving them into an underground car park. The security guard confronts the driver, who beats the guard and frees the guard’s dog, intensifying the danger.

The driver continues the pursuit with single minded ruthlessness, forcing Chris and Luc to scramble through the streets in search of safety.

Desperate, they turn to Detox, a violent gang leader, claiming that the taxi driver has stolen money Detox is owed. Detox grows more dangerous as the driver corners him near Detox's home with a sword. In a brutal confrontation, the driver overpowers Detox, kills everyone inside the house except Chris and Luc, and sends the two fleeing.

Panic drives Luc to call the police, but the situation spirals as the driver lands another strike. A gunfight of wits and endurance erupts as they sprint through streets and parks, leaving an officer gravely wounded in the melee.

The truth about the past surfaces in a brutal confession: two years earlier, Chris and Luc drunkenly harassed a homeless man, pouring alcohol on him and miming urination before beating him to death. They fear the driver's motive is retribution for that moment.

Ludivine calls from the driver's location to reveal that she has been kidnapped and taken to a factory. Chris refuses to abandon her and resolves to rescue her.

Chris breaks through and rescues Ludivine, but the driver overpowers him again. Luc arrives to help, but the driver’s strength remains overwhelming, and he frees Ludivine but insists that Luc accompany him.

The driver presents Luc with a manuscript like book detailing the history of a secret vigilante society. Struck by the realization that he too has led a violent life, Luc agrees to join the driver’s clandestine circle.

Under rigorous training, Luc becomes a trainee in a brutal, shadowy world. The story closes with Luc dropped off at the site of a violent mugging, leaving him to decide whether to intervene or walk away, embodying the change the driver’s order seeks.
