While on assignment covering a volcanic eruption, journalist Russell Woods watches his wife die in the devastation. Consumed by grief, he journeys to the Italian village of her birth, where a curious girl named Angela, deemed cursed by locals, follows him. Ignoring the warnings, Russell feels an inexplicable bond with Angela, believing her strange behavior is linked to his loss. As supernatural forces stir, he discovers that a greater, otherworldly threat has descended on the village, with Angela at its centre.
