A surreal sci‑fi rock opera set in Toronto’s late‑1970s live‑music scene, Metal Messiah follows an enigmatic metallic‑skinned stranger who battles society’s self‑destructive obsession with rock and roll. The film marks Tibor Takács’ feature debut, written with Stephen Zoller, and strives for the bombastic scale of Phantom of the Paradise and Tommy while echoing avant‑punk works like The Foreigner, blending fog, flags, lights and future sights into a bizarre, ambitious dystopian parable.
