Based on an old Japanese legend that claims eating mermaid flesh can grant immortality, the story instead shows that most who consume it die or become cursed beings known as Lost Souls. The series follows Yuta, a man who has lived for five hundred years, as he travels across Japan searching for a cure for his endless life, meeting others whose destinies have been shattered by the same forbidden meat.
