Based on a true episode in Transylvania after World War I, a land‑owning noble returns to find part of his fortune destroyed when Austro‑Hungary cedes the region to Romania in late 1918. Seeking vengeance, he blames a nearby Romanian village and orders the massacre of its peasants. A Romanian officer of the Transylvanian Volunteers defends the villagers and confronts the noble’s brutal campaign.
