Medusa Deluxe (2023) Plot Summary & Ending Explained

In the ending of Medusa Deluxe, it's revealed that Mosca’s death was not caused by murder but was instead a tragic accident. Mosca, suffering from diabetes, was already ill, and when he started feeling sick during the competition, he collapsed in the dressing room. Guc, who had a complicated and unstable relationship with Mosca, found him in that vulnerable moment and decided to scalp him, thinking he was preserving Mosca’s hair out of love. Guc’s actions, driven by obsession and drug influence, led him to scalp Mosca after his death, believing he was honoring his memory. The film’s final scenes show Guc confessing to the act, cementing the idea that Mosca’s demise was accidental rather than intentional. Several characters, including Angel, Gac, and Patricio, are involved in various ways—through drug dealings and suspicions—but ultimately, the story underscores that Mosca’s death was a tragic result of his health issues compounded by the chaos of the competition. The subsequent year, the hairdressing event is held again, symbolizing a form of remembrance for Mosca, with characters acting in ways that show their growth and attempt to find peace after the tragedy. The film’s stylized visuals and suspenseful direction serve to deepen the emotional impact of this revelation, emphasizing that sometimes, what appears to be foul play can stem from a combination of obsession, misunderstanding, and circumstances beyond anyone’s control.
