Tim discovers the betrayal too late; a gas explosion at the marina traps him and Olivia aboard Masquerade, ending Tim’s life and aiming to seal Olivia’s fate with him. In the moment of crisis, Olivia uncovers a newspaper clipping that exposes the trio—Tim, Gateworth, and McGill—just as McGill confronts her with his plan. In a desperate fight for survival, Olivia pushes McGill out of a window, killing him and averting another layer of deceit.

The drama resolves with Tim’s funeral, where Olivia’s lawyer notes that Tim had recently insisted on removal from Olivia’s will and had, in the end, come to love her.
