Max is navigating puberty and has a crush on the attractive classmate Ofelia, hoping to spend the Christmas break—or at least New Year’s Eve—with her. Meanwhile his mother Agnete, unsure how to support him, bungles her attempts at creating a perfect holiday. With friends Hassan and Ester, Max restores order and throws a raucous New Year’s party, where Ester takes the chance to kiss him before Ofelia arrives.
