Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness

Ash rises from what seems like heaven only to confront a ravenous force breaching the afterlife. The Sentry goes on a consuming rampage and, prompted by the Watcher, Ash and the Sentry are hurled into a different reality. A chilling prophecy about the dead rising is introduced as the new world begins to crumble around him.

Ash receives a chilling warning that an army of the dead will rise. The message hints at doom for this new world, while Ash tries to understand his role within it. The prophecy adds a grim tension to his crossing into the chaos.

Ash encounters a clash between Daredevil and Thunderball and initially mistakes Daredevil for a villain. He warns the Avengers about a Deadite invasion, but the team is distracted by his bravado. Scarlet Witch teleports him away as Edwin Jarvis alerts the team to the disturbance.

Spider-Man arrives to carry Ash away with a message from Colonel America. In a tense ruse, Spider-Man pretends to want to devour Ash to keep him calm, then departs after checking on Aunt May and Mary Jane. The moment foreshadows Peter Parker's grim fate later in Dead Days.

Ash meets the Punisher, who hands him a bag of spare weapons and fights his way through the chaos. The Punisher is said to have taken out major threats like Kingpin, Hammerhead, and the Owl, while the Wrecking Crew closes in. Thunderball is slain, creating a tense standoff on the ground.

Ash along with Dazzler, guided by the Scarlet Witch, searches for the Necronomicon at Doctor Strange’s headquarters. When no Necronomicon is found there, they decide to press on to Latveria as Doom’s castle comes under assault by the Dead Days forces.

In a parallel strand of the same reality, another version of Ash fights the undead but is killed by a zombie Howard the Duck. The main Ash and Scarlet Witch later topple the zombie, showing the fragility of even the bravest hero in this fractured world.

Doom captures Ash for his foolish bravado, and Ash steals a Doombot’s armor to disguise himself as Doom in Doomstadt. While wandering, he frees the Enchantress, who is revealed to be a zombie. Doom blasts both women to termination as the city fights to escape the curse.

Ash and his allies learn that the Necronomicon cannot halt the zombie plague because the zombies are not Deadites. The book confirms the prophecy that the army will rise and the world will fall, but the events may not be causally linked. Acting on Ash’s direction, the Necronomicon conjures Deadites to divert the onslaught while Doom transports Ash to a parallel world and ferries survivors to a safe haven.

The Necronomicon shows its comic side when Wolverine’s zombified form uses it as toilet paper. The group travels through a series of alternate realms, and Ash materializes in a realm ruled by Marvel werewolves where he is pursued before finally escaping back to his own world. This journey sets up the next Army of Darkness chapter, From The Ashes.

Ash finds his way back to his own Earth, returning from the multiversal chase with the dead threatening to overrun everything. He sets the stage for the next Army of Darkness installment, hinting that the struggle against the Deadites will continue. The survivors regroup, preparing for a desperate stand.

The Dead Days prequel later reveals Spider-Man’s ultimate fate: he becomes fully consumed by the plague and turns on those he loves. This grim fate casts a long shadow over Ash’s mission and the world’s struggle against the undead. The revelation ties back to the opening chaos and the cost of resistance.
