In Grosseto in 2008, Michele, Edoardo, and Iacopo play in the street punk band Wait for Nothing, touring the province with local festivals and fairs. They wrestle with the monotony of provincial life and the feeling of marginality in a city two hours from everything. Michele balances family life with his music, sharing his passion with his young daughter Alice.

They finally get a chance to play in Bologna, opening for The Defense, but the date is canceled. Undeterred, they contact The Defense and propose bringing the band to Grosseto, hoping for a local breakthrough. The Defense agrees to come to Grosseto, giving them a shot to organize the event.

They face practical hurdles in organizing the show. Finding a venue that can host the concert at reasonable prices proves difficult. The Municipality shows little interest because resources are already allocated to a reenactment of Louis IV the Bavarian siege. Adriano Melis, Sala Eden's manager, becomes involved in the negotiations.

After a quarrel with Adriano Melis, the Sala Eden deal falls through. With no suitable venue in sight, they accept a dilapidated community hall provided by the Municipality.

Michele misses a job interview arranged by Margherita and secretly uses her money to buy plane tickets for The Defense. He rationalizes the move as a chance to propel their music forward, while the strain of secrecy grows.

Iacopo receives a call from Barenboim for the start of the tour, which coincides with the concert date. He informs Edoardo but does not know how to tell Michele, fueling tensions among friends.

With money running out and nerves frayed, the trio sneaks into Sala Eden at night to steal Adriano Melis' equipment. The plan backfires as they vandalize the venue, drawing police attention and risking everything.

Melis decides not to press charges for the time being. Edoardo's mother kicks him out but nonetheless provides him with the necessary equipment for the concert, forcing him to confront his choices.

Iacopo reveals his intention to leave Grosseto to pursue an orchestral career, and the three drift apart after a heated argument. The dream of a shared breakthrough begins to fracture.

The Defense finally arrives in Grosseto and the concert goes ahead before a large audience. The three friends witness their plan come to fruition, despite the chaos that preceded it.

The next day, Michele and Edoardo are at the police station as Il Tirreno reports on the event with the front page reading Punk concert shocks the city. Two Grosseto residents reported. The mood mixes relief with the sting of trouble still surrounding them.

They call Iacopo, but his voicemail answers in French. As they drive through the streets of Grosseto, they sing Se bruciasse la città at the top of their lungs, celebrating the night despite the fallout.
