Maayi

Maayi is a respected do-gooder in the village who spends his time helping others. He funds and runs free hospitals, daycare centers, and colleges to uplift the community. Women in the village see him as a protector and treat him like a brother.

Maayi learns that his father Irulandi had a second wife, a revelation that shocks him. He is prepared to kill his father, but Irulandi dies by suicide to avoid a confrontation. Maayi then brings his half-sister Lakshmi to live with him in the village.

A local MLA named Sundarapandiyan visits Maayi to secure his political backing for the upcoming election. Maayi refuses to align with him, sticking to his own ethics. Sundarapandiyan loses the election as a result.

Despite political tensions, Maayi continues to build and support public institutions that benefit villagers. His hospitals, daycare centers, and colleges become symbols of his commitment to the community. The village begins to rely on his leadership.

Maayi learns that Lakshmi is being tortured by her husband as part of a revenge plan against him. He intervenes, defeats the husband, and asserts that he will not tolerate criminal acts even if they threaten his family.

Bhuvaneswari, a distant relative's daughter, arrives in the village and initially misreads Maayi's appearance. She soon recognizes the positive changes he has brought and grows attracted to him.

Bhuvaneswari confesses her love and proposes marriage, but Maayi does not accept her proposal. Nevertheless, she remains confident and determined to win him, which leads to his telling of his past.

Maayi is born into poverty and his mother Nachiyamma suffers from leprosy. To prevent spreading the disease, she is kept isolated and cannot touch him. When he is eight, she drowns herself, committing suicide, in a river.

The isolation and loss of his mother deeply affect Maayi, leading him to vow never to marry so that no woman would touch him. This vow shapes his relationships for years to come.

Before the wedding, Maayi persuades Bhuvaneswari to consider marrying someone else to avoid bringing trouble into his life. She remains resolute, signaling that their dynamic is more complex than a simple romance.

Maayi learns Lakshmi is being tortured by her husband in a revenge plot against him. He confronts the abuser, beats him, and reaffirms that he will not support criminals even if it costs him his family.

On Bhuvaneswari's wedding day, the bridegroom's family suspects Maayi and Bhuvaneswari are lovers after seeing Maayi's dhoti in her room. They halt the marriage under cruel suspicion.

Bhuvaneswari's friend reveals the truth that Maayi had given his dhoti to safeguard her when her dresses were washed away. The revelation dispels the misunderstanding and shifts the narrative back toward truth and compassion.

Manorama from the village challenges the groom's family and argues that Maayi and Bhuvaneswari should marry. Her intervention supports the rightful path and the village's moral code.

Following the upheaval and revelations, Maayi and Bhuvaneswari marry, aligning with his reformist ethos and the village's needs. The union symbolizes his commitment to social welfare and protection for women.
