Cecily Harrington, living on a meager allowance, wins a lottery and chooses to travel instead of marrying her fiancé Nigel. She rents her flat to the enigmatic Manuel Cortez, quickly falls in love, and they wed. On their honeymoon at an isolated English college, she discovers Manuel is a fortune‑hunting murderer with several dead wives, forcing her to confront the peril of a hasty marriage.
