Gerardo, an aspiring actor desperate to move from comedy to tragedy, is recruited because of his gift for mimicking Italy’s regional dialects. He becomes entangled in a scheme devised by his associate Lallo to defraud a wealthy cloth‑merchant, forcing him to balance his artistic ambitions with the risks of the con.
