During the vibrant and experimental 1960s in San Francisco, the Grateful Dead emerged as a unique group of musicians. They blended a diverse range of influences, including bluegrass, folk, R&B, jazz, classical music, and jug band sounds. The band's improvisational style and unconventional approach helped define the era's counterculture movement.
