The film presents three vignettes on pleasure. First, a man masks his age to keep attending balls and courting women, tying pleasure to a longing for youth. Second, Mme Tellier brings her prostitutes to countryside for her niece’s communion, mixing pleasure with a hint of purity. Finally, painter Jean falls for his model, merging desire with death.
