In a quiet French town in the early 1960s, after the Algerian War, respected citizen Grégoire Duval murders a young woman who rejects him. With no witnesses, he stays silent while her boyfriend, an Algerian farmhand, is wrongfully sentenced. By chance Duval serves on the jury, forcing him to undermine the verdict and protect the innocent man.
