After World War I, Arsène Muselier returns to his home village with a head wound that sometimes triggers delirium. Reuniting with his mother, caretaker, former lover and friends, he becomes obsessed with the legend of La Vouivre—a woman‑like creature haunting the marsh with vipers. One night he meets a naked, alluring woman who captivates him, leaving him to wonder if she is a real monster or a product of his damaged mind.
