In late 2004, Dr. Lewis Shaler enjoys a train ride through London with his young son, Max. As they look out at the skyline, their peaceful evening takes a surprising turn.

Max accidentally spills coffee on Sarah Barwell, creating an awkward yet charming moment. This incident unexpectedly ignites a potential romance between Lewis and Sarah amidst the tension.

As the journey progresses, Lewis notices a figure in high-visibility gear tampering with the train's brakes. A sense of dread fills the air as he realizes the potential danger they are in.

Lewis becomes increasingly alarmed when a guard vanishes without explanation. The mysterious circumstances heighten his sense of urgency to protect his son and fellow passengers.

The train misses its scheduled stop, prompting Lewis to reach out over the intercom. The driver’s chilling response about the number of passengers raises alarm bells in Lewis's mind.

Realizing the severity of the situation, Lewis teams up with Peter Carmichael to pull the emergency brakes. However, their efforts yield no results, increasing their panic as the train remains out of control.

Lewis and Carmichael enlist the help of a seemingly inebriated Jan Klimowski to create a plan to stop the train. They attempt to use the rear handbrake but soon find themselves thwarted as the driver accelerates.

The train speeds past Tunbridge Wells and tragically collides with a stationary vehicle at a level crossing. The incident results in the death of its occupants, shocking all the passengers aboard.

After the collision, Elaine Middleton, another passenger, suffers a heart attack from the shock of the situation. Despite Lewis's frantic attempts to revive her, she tragically passes away.

Desperate to stop the disaster, Lewis and Klimowski break into the driver’s cab, only to discover the grim sight of the guard’s lifeless body. The horrifying revelation amplifies their urgency to take action.

Klimowski attempts to uncouple the train carriages in a desperate move to save the passengers. However, soon they realize they’re approaching a perilous single-track tunnel, escalating the risk.

Lewis acts quickly to save Klimowski from being trapped in the impending disaster. Their escape leads them to a police blockade that offers little help as the train surges forward.

As they near Hastings station, Lewis constructs an explosive device from a fire extinguisher in a last-ditch effort to avert catastrophe. The explosion facilitates an escape for several passengers but comes at a cost.

During the chaos of escape, Peter Carmichael is claimed by the disaster, becoming another victim of the shocking events. The survivors are left reeling from the tragic turn of fate.

In the aftermath, Lewis emerges from the wreckage, shaken but alive. He reunites with Sarah, Max, and Klimowski, while a helicopter circles above, marking the chilling end to their harrowing experience.
