Benning continues his examination of Americana by juxtaposing the unsettling narratives of two killers. He recounts Ed Gein, the Wisconsin farmer who in the 1950s murdered and taxidermied his victims, and Bernadette Protti, a California teenager who, in 1984, fatally stabbed a friend after a petty insult. The film probes the darker fringes of American myth.
