Using only discarded 16 mm footage, the film offers a haunting meditation on suicide. Voice‑over readings from a journal kept by a brother of a friend who died by suicide in 1990 weave scenes of sadness, isolation and longing to escape—from an elderly American couple’s double suicide to a Japanese teenager’s leap into a volcano that sparked countless imitators. Its lyrical tone treats the taboo with understanding and compassion.
