Part of Elder’s 35‑hour cycle The Book of All the Dead, the film reinterprets the Egyptian Book of the Dead as a dark meditation on mortality. It overlays philosophical text on a collage of odd scenes—a grotesque Franz Liszt and a Newton‑Berkeley debate—and ends with salvation through British Columbia, the American Southwest and Mexico’s Yucatán.
