In the bitter cold of 1874, Sayo finds herself in a women's prison, grappling with loneliness and despair while giving birth to her daughter, Yuki. It is here she shares her harrowing tale with fellow inmates about the brutal murder of her husband and son, which sets the tone for her relentless quest for vengeance.

Amidst her suffering, Sayo manages to take revenge on one of her captors, Shokei Tokuichi. However, her fleeting taste of justice turns sour when she is arrested and condemned to life imprisonment, marking a turning point in her tragic narrative.

Driven by an overwhelming desire to experience motherhood, Sayo resorts to seducing various prison guards at the cost of her dignity. Her relentless pursuit showcases her desperation and longing to provide a better future for her daughter, Yuki.

Fast forward to Meiji 15 (1882), Yuki undergoes rigorous training under Priest Dōkai, molding her into a formidable swordswoman. This apprenticeship is pivotal, shaping her into the legendary assassin known as Shurayuki-hime, feared by many.

As Yuki transitions into adulthood, her focus sharpens on Shibayama, a cruel leader commanding a ruthless gang. With skillful precision, she defeats him and his followers, marking a significant step in her quest for vengeance against those who wronged her family.

After killing Shibayama, Yuki seeks the help of Matsuemon, who leads an underground network. In exchange for aiding her in tracking down the remaining assailants, she offers him valuable information regarding Shibayama's demise.

Guided by Matsuemon, Yuki confronts Takemura Banzō, a man lost to addiction whose daughter, Kobue, suffers due to his choices. In a swift act of justice, Yuki takes Banzō's life, furthering her mission to eliminate the evildoers responsible for her mother's anguish.

While pursuing her vengeance, Yuki learns that the last tormentor of her mother, Tsukamoto Gishirō, has supposedly died in a shipwreck three years prior. This revelation leaves her unresolved feelings and undeterred drive to confront her mother's past.

Yuki finds herself ensnared in a web spun by reporter Ryūrei Ashio, who is determined to unveil her story. Persuaded by Priest Dōkai, Ashio takes action against one of Sayo's tormentors, Kitahama Okono, putting himself in grave danger.

Seizing the moment, Yuki infiltrates Okono's territory, stealthily eliminating his guards. She ultimately faces Okono himself, dispatching him with fierce resolve as Ashio reveals a shocking truth about Gishirō's past and identity.

Yuki tracks down Gishirō to an extravagant masquerade ball, illustrating her tactical prowess. As she navigates through the crowd, she dispatches a decoy before confronting him directly, escalating the battle of wills between them.

In a climactic encounter, Yuki stabs Gishirō just as he attempts to shoot Ashio. Her swift action results in his grave injury, with his body crashing down from the balcony—a vindication of her long-fought quest for justice.

In the dead of winter, Yuki finds herself engaged in a relentless struggle against Kobue, who seeks revenge for her father’s death. This confrontation leaves Yuki gravely wounded, emphasizing the tragic nature of her journey.

As the pale winter sun rises, demonstrating the theme of rebirth, Yuki miraculously opens her eyes. Her resilient spirit shines through, signaling her determination to overcome the hardships faced in her life and hinting at new beginnings.
