A mathematics professor finally finishes a decades‑long research project and emerges from his isolated study into everyday life. He barely recognizes his rebellious teenage children or his materialistic wife, who pay little attention to him. Only Marja, his son’s university‑freshman girlfriend, shows genuine interest in his work. An innocent attraction develops between the elderly scholar and the young woman, while his family is preoccupied with the prize money he receives from an international jury for his academic achievement.
