Ramnadhan is murdered by Nagappan, a convict he had testified against. In the aftermath, Sekhar, Anand, and their mother Mangalam decide to leave for Madras to start a new life. The murder triggers the family’s breakup and sets Sekhar on a path that will isolate him from his past.

During a train journey to Madras, Sekhar steps off to fetch water and the train pulls away without him. Nagappan arrives and abducts Sekhar, who is raised by him as a criminal. He grows up unaware that his father was killed by the very man who now mentors him.

Years pass and Sekhar adopts the alias 'Babu', becoming a notorious criminal in the city. He remains the most wanted man and operates largely unseen, hiding the truth of his origins. Meanwhile, his younger brother Anand remains ignorant of Babu's identity.

In a police encounter, Babu is grievously wounded and seeks refuge at Mangalam's home. He does not recognize Mangalam as his mother, though a quiet bond begins to form. The moment hints at the family ties that will later come back to confront him.

Nagappan, now known as Boopathy, runs a cabaret and employs Babu. He discovers Babu’s soft spot for Mangalam and works to erase that kindness from him. This sets up a looming conflict between loyalty and affection.

A second police encounter leaves Babu wounded again and drives him into madness, resulting in amnesia. The loss of memory leaves his loyalties and past in question. Those around him must navigate the fog of his condition to protect him and uncover the truth.

D.I.G. Mogan detects the resemblance between Anand and Babu and devises a plan: Anand should impersonate Babu to infiltrate the gang and seize their secrets. The plan relies on blurring identity and exploiting internal knowledge of the criminal world. It marks the start of a dangerous game.

Anand agrees to take on Babu's role and begins impersonating him to gather information. He later realizes that Babu is his own brother, which creates a personal conflict between duty and family. This revelation reshapes his priorities and loyalties.

Asha, Babu's girlfriend, discovers that Anand is impersonating Babu. He explains Babu’s medical condition, and Asha forgives him. The two then team up with Anand to take down Nagappan.

Babu escapes from prison with the intent to kill Anand after learning about him. Jaya confronts him and tells him that Anand is his brother, but Babu does not believe her. He then abducts Jaya, creating a tense confrontation.

Mangalam intervenes and reveals that she is Babu’s mother, rekindling his memories of his father. The revelation fuels his resolve to fight Nagappan alongside Anand. It seals the path toward reclaiming his true family.

Babu and Anand put aside their differences and join forces to defeat Nagappan and his gang. The criminals are brought to justice, and the alliance strengthens their family ties. The victory signals the end of Nagappan's threat.

With Nagappan arrested, Babu returns to his birth name, Sekhar, and reunites with Mangalam and Anand. The family repairs the wounds of the past and looks toward a hopeful future. The tale ends on a note of reunion and renewed belonging.
