One summer evening the village policeman Krause suddenly loses his mind. His doctor promptly prescribes a restorative trip to the Baltic Sea, so Krause and his sisters set out aboard the legendary vessel “Dübener Ei”. At the seaside sanatorium Krause meets his roommate Rudi, an encounter that proves to have far‑reaching consequences for both of them.
