After Detective Michael Long is shot and left for dead, the eccentric billionaire Wilton Knight rescues him, funds extensive plastic‑surgery to give him a new face, and assigns him the new identity of Michael Knight. He also receives KITT, the Knight Industries Two Thousand—a sleek, AI‑controlled car armed with spy gadgets, near‑invulnerable armor, and advanced weaponry.
