Constable Achuthan Nair is posted to Ramapuram after a petty case against the MLA's son. He moves his wife Ammu and their children with him, starting a new chapter for their family. The change in posting also sets the stage for Sethumadhavan's future ambitions and the locals' expectations.

Keerikadan Jose extorts in the Ramapuram market. Achuthan Nair intervenes and is brutally beaten by Jose. Sethumadhavan witnesses the assault and defends his father by striking back, leaving Jose badly wounded and taken to the hospital.

The market lauds Jose's downfall and hails Sethu as a new savior, but his notoriety soon pulls his friends into trouble. A brawl erupts at the local pub, further entangling Sethu in violence. Achuthan Nair grows uneasy and accuses his son of slipping toward crime.

Haidrose, claiming to be Sethu's henchman, begins extorting traders and is joined by Ramanan. Sethu learns of this and beats both Haidrose and Ramanan at the market. At home, Ramanan lies to shield his son, and Achuthan asks Sethu to leave the house, prompting Sethu to walk out.

A local police inspector arrests Sethu on a petty charge and warns him to stay away from trouble. Keshu, a childhood friend, tries to mediate, but Sethu breaks down under mounting pressure and isolation. The family atmosphere grows tenser as suspicion surrounds him.

Devi's parents arrange her marriage to another man, and Devi is reluctant but complies. Sethu meets Devi and explains his helpless situation, asking her to honor her parents' wishes. She proceeds with the marriage, leaving Sethu lonelier and more isolated than before.

After his discharge from the hospital, Keerikadan Jose vows revenge on Sethu and those who celebrated his supposed death. He ransacks Sethu's home and manhandles his mother and sisters. Sethu feels powerless as his family endures harassment and fear.

Parameshwaran, the lieutenant of Keerikadan, attacks Sethu. In self-defense, Sethu grabs an iron rod and seriously injures Parameshwaran, who is hospitalized. The violent clash deepens the feud and pushes Sethu further into a cycle of violence.

Keerikadan Jose again targets Sethu, leading to a fierce fight. Sethu, bloodied and enraged, threatens anyone who comes near. In the culmination, Sethu stabs Keerikadan Jose to death with a dagger.

Achuthan Nair intervenes and orders Sethu to drop the dagger. After a tense moment, Sethu complies and tosses the weapon aside. He collapses to his knees, emotionally spent, as his father looks on with mixed emotions.

The Police Verification Report arrives and labels Sethu as a criminal in the eyes of the police, disqualifying him from becoming an inspector. Achuthan Nair struggles with duty and son while the family faces social fallout. The town starts to see Sethu only through the lens of notoriety.

The film ends with the hard truth that Sethumadhavan will not join the police force. The head constable reads the report publicly, sealing Sethu's status in the community. The family contemplates the costs of ambition, loyalty, and the cycle of violence that defined their lives.
