Kingdom of Crooked Mirrors is a 1964 Soviet fairy‑tale film directed by Aleksandr Rou, adapted from Vitali Gubarev’s story. Rendered in a Through‑the‑Looking‑Glass style, the precise Soviet girl Olya meets her mirror opposite, Yalo, whose traits are reversed. Through her journey in the Kingdom of Crooked Mirrors, Olya learns to view herself differently, while the film subtly critiques how a society can manufacture a false reality.
