Based on Leif Panduro’s 1958 satire, the film follows David, a senior high‑school student who kicks his principal and is placed in a psychiatric ward. There he sees his supposedly sane family are the real eccentrics, while the ward staff are even more unbalanced. The only steady ally is his class‑mate Lis, whose loyal nature offers a rare anchor.
