Tokiko “Key” Mima, a 17‑year‑old android, learns from her dying grandfather that she can become human if she makes thirty‑thousand friends. She moves to Tokyo, reconnects with childhood friend Sakura, and idolizes singer Miho Utsuse, hoping stardom will help her reach the goal. Unbeknownst to her, Miho is tied to Jinsaku Ajou, Dr. Mima’s rival seeking to turn robotics into weapons, endangering Key’s quest.
