After the explosion at the nuclear research facility, Luna is detained by Iranian security forces. During her interrogation, she speculates about a possible link between the facility’s destruction and a Belgian contractor due to their geographical proximity to sensitive sites.

Back in London, Tom faces turmoil in his personal life as his wife seeks a divorce and his daughter, Ida, feels the weight of his frequent absences. This emotional conflict further complicates his already dangerous career.

During a flight delay in Dubai, Tom meets with his CIA handler, Roman Chalmers, who presents him with a new lucrative contract in Herat, Afghanistan. The mission aims to obliterate Iran's nuclear program before they can develop a bomb, placing Tom back on the front lines.

Upon arriving in Herat, Tom's cover is compromised due to an intelligence leak, putting him and his mission in jeopardy. An urgent extraction effort is initiated as Tom realizes he must act quickly to survive.

Tom partners with his Afghan-American translator, Mo, who is also on a personal quest to find his missing wife’s sister, lost to the Taliban. Together, they navigate an increasingly dangerous landscape filled with Iranian agents and the Pakistani ISI.

While attempting to evade capture, Tom and Mo are attacked by an Iranian helicopter, resulting in a severe injury to Mo. This attack marks a turning point, as their dire situation grows more perilous.

Tom and Mo find temporary refuge with an Afghan warlord, but this complicates their situation due to the warlord's grudge against Mo. Trust is tenuous, and their safety remains uncertain as they plan their next move.

The two are ultimately captured by a Taliban warlord, escalating their predicament. However, amidst the chaos, Roman conflicts occur, initiating a rescue operation to liberate Tom and Mo.

As the situation intensifies, Roman shifts his allegiance, orchestrating a daring assault to rescue Tom and Mo from their captors. His actions reveal the complexities of loyalty and betrayal in the field.
