In 16th-century India, Tara is a princess, and Maya is her beautiful servant. As soldiers marshal the palace for the shah’s arrival, Maya walks away into the distance, a solitary figure stepping into an uncertain world, bearing the memory of love, rebellion, and a life shadowed by power.
