Defying warnings, a destitute elderly Brazilian marries a nineteen‑year‑old woman. Unable to father children, he goes to the interior to earn money for her. Returning home he learns she has a three‑year‑old daughter and he buys a knife. The suspenseful film blends ethnographic, adventurous and dramatic action, based on a poem by Odylo Costa Filho.
