In a post‑war town, residents have suppressed the post‑war period until a stranger finds a book that mayor Jadup (Kurt Böwe) gave to refugee Boel (Katrin Knappe). The book revives memories of Boel’s disappearance, a rumored rape blamed on a Russian soldier, and Jadup’s guilt for having mistrusted and abandoned her, forcing him to confront the past.
