In the 17th century, a pair of researchers chase the age‑old dream of flight in a city of empires and intrigues. Hezârfen Ahmet Çelebi Ege Aydan and Lagâri Hasan Çelebi Okan Bayülgen devote their days to studying the miracle of flight, sketching wings and calculating trajectories while politics swirls around them. The empire is ruled by a determined young sultan, Murat IV Burak Sergen, who fights to impose strict order and sever the lingering influence of his powerfully political mother, Valide Kösem Sultan Zuhal Olcay. In this tense balance between reform and rebellion, an unexpected discovery lands at their feet and threatens to upend both science and sovereignty.

A captured Venetian ship, long hunted by Algerian pirates, sails into Istanbul’s harbor with its secrets intact. Among the rescued are a girl, Francesca Beatriz Rico, who carries a manuscript that purports to reveal how to fly. The document is tantalizing but indecipherable, its codes stubbornly resistant to every attempt at interpretation. The moment the manuscript passes into the hands of the two researchers, a chain of choices is set in motion that will pit curiosity against convention, science against superstition, and personal longing against political risk.

When Hezârfen and Hasan are caught examining a dead body—a crime in cold, unforgiving law—their fate seems sealed. Yet the sultan intervenes, steering the case toward a court trial rather than a straightforward execution. The manuscript’s origins point to Leonardo da Vinci, whose own ideas about manned flight echo through the text. Yet the page remains stubbornly unreadable, its messages trapped in a cipher that even the brightest minds cannot crack. Amid this scholarly deadlock, a forbidden romance blooms: Hezârfen and Francesca grow closer as they share glances over sparks and smoke, and a gentle trust forms between them that transcends rivalry and danger. Hasan, ever the experimental catalyst, begins to push the limits—testing rockets and watching the sky ignite with potential. A spectacular launch hints at what high ascent could mean for the city, and the thrill of ascent seems within reach.

A fateful spill of drinks across the manuscript finally fractures the code, revealing Da Vinci’s hidden ideas in a new light. Hezârfen, drawing from his own genius and Da Vinci’s, designs a flying machine built from artificial wings and careful engineering. Yet the flight plan meets resistance from the conservative factions of the court, including Şeyh-ül İslam Cüneyt Çalışkur, who fears the heresy of man taking wing. The sultan’s mood shifts from cautious curiosity to distrust, culminating in a ban on Hezârfen’s experiments and an order for arrest.

With courage and a shared resolve, Hezârfen escapes persecution with the aid of the ardent chronicler, Evliya Çelebi Haluk Bilginer, guiding them toward the ancient Galata Tower. There, under the watchful eyes of a city perched between two continents, they prepare for a final act that would change the map of possibility: a daring flight across the Bosporus. Beside him, Francesca offers a human presence that tempers ambition with tenderness, and together they rise toward the horizon, turning a century of restraint into a moment of audacious invention and hope.
