Inventor Carl Åkerblom, a rosy‑cheeked 54‑year‑old admirer of Franz Schubert, is confined to the psychiatric ward at Akademiska Hospital in Uppsala after attempting to beat his fiancée, Pauline Thibault, to death. He and fellow patient Professor Osvald Vogler launch a “living talkie” film project and soon embark on a frantic tour with their movie, “The Joy of the Joyous Girl.” Written by Fredrik Klasson.
