Salvador Dalí, the celebrated Spanish painter, embarks on a surreal expedition across the mental landscape of Upper Mongolia in search of a hallucinogenic mushroom. The journey also serves as an experimental homage to French poet Raymond Roussel (1877‑1933), the eccentric visionary whose work prefigured and inspired the Surrealists.
