František Procházka is forced into early retirement when his men sing a forbidden song about a C‑and‑K field marshal. Denied a return to service, he visits nephew Rudi, finds a hidden marshal’s uniform and must pose as the officer throughout the garrison. His ruse secures Rudi’s marriage, unmasks a spy, and earns Procházka a promotion to real field marshal and a recall to duty.
