Eventually, one pregnancy succeeded in Cecilia, who was likely drugged and injected with the embryo against her will, making her an unwitting participant in Tedeschi’s plan. When Cecilia begins showing signs of pregnancy and the authorities inside the convent confirm the presence of an embryo, she is puzzled, especially since she has not been intimate with anyone. It becomes clear that the nuns are victims of Tedeschi’s experiments, which aimed to bring Jesus back through genetic manipulation.

As Cecilia tries to escape and fights to survive, the truth unfolds: Tedeschi had been using the relic nail to conduct experiments on multiple women, impregnating them with a clone or a genetically engineered version of Jesus Christ. The nuns working under him are complicit, carrying out his orders and even killing those who threaten to expose the truth. When Cecilia’s pregnancy is confirmed, she tries to fake a miscarriage to get help, but Tedeschi’s plan is revealed—he wanted her as the successful vessel for his resurrection project. The climax reveals his sinister scientific motive: to bring Jesus back to life through DNA cloning, using the convent and the nuns as his unwitting surrogates.

In the end, Cecilia escapes after destroying Tedeschi’s lab and killing him, but her ordeal doesn’t end there. She gives birth to an unnatural, possibly deformed creature—the baby doesn’t resemble a normal human and makes disturbing noises. Overcome with horror and trauma from her experiences, Cecilia chooses to end her own suffering by killing her newborn, smashing its head with a heavy stone. Her act signifies her rejection of the horrors she endured, the desecration of her faith, and her desperate attempt to regain her humanity after witnessing the monstrous results of Tedeschi’s experiments.
