Betsy Riki Lindhome is introduced as a woman who talks to herself, voicing that many of her dreams have not come true. Kenneth, who’s visiting his famous brother Tevin, slips into the room and Betsy’s moment of private confession is interrupted by embarrassment. She explains she’s alone, just in case Kenneth leaves, while Kate, Betsy’s imaginary friend, grows angry that she felt ignored. When Kenneth returns, he quietly asks Betsy out on a date, setting the story in motion.

During the date, Kate tries to dissuade Betsy from going out with him, weaving interruptions into Betsy’s thoughts. Betsy, unable to ignore Kate’s voice, eventually tells Kenneth she cannot date him. Kenneth becomes distraught over the rejection and begins to cut himself. He later goes to Betsy’s house and she reveals Kate’s presence to him. After speaking with his brother, he decides to create his own imaginary friend, who insists on being called Alfonse Christopher Stewart.

They return to Betsy’s house where Alfonse is able to seduce Kate. The two imaginary friends leave, leaving Betsy feeling a profound sadness. In an attempt to comfort her, Kenneth sits beside Betsy and asks, > What do you think they're doing? A split screen then shows Kate and Alfonse on one side and Betsy and Kenneth on the other, each couple sharing intimate moments.
