The film explores the complex relationship between Sigmund Freud and a young woman known as “Dora,” whom he treated in 1900. Following her parents' request, Freud began therapy after she made accusations of sexual assault against a family friend. The film intercuts Freud’s published account of their sessions with a dramatized version presented from Dora’s perspective. Through this unique approach, the story examines Freud's theory of hysteria and its lasting impact on cinema, societal views, and popular culture over the last century.
